Safeguarding Topic: Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month, themes and how to participate…

“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candour and more unashamed conversation.” Glenn Close

Too many misconceptions surround mental health issues, which causes many people to suffer in silence. Many dismiss the problems that they are facing, ignoring all signs and don’t seek any kind of help. Mental Health Awareness is an imperative initiative established to improve understanding of mental health conditions and increase access to healthcare for all but especially those who are in need of it.

What is the theme of Mental Health Awareness this year?

The theme of  this year for mental health awareness is “Anxiety”

A recent mental health study revealed that a quarter of adults said that they felt so anxious that it stopped them from doing the things they want to do some or all of the time. 6 in 10 adults feel this way.

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week aims to improve people’s understanding and increase people’s awareness of anxiety through the provision of information and advice on what can help to prevent anxiety from becoming a problem. Additionally, this mental health awareness week will aim to ensure that improving mental health is regarded as a key priority for the government and society as a whole.

What LLC is doing to celebrate Mental Health Awareness this year

To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week at LLC, we will be having our very own Well-being Day on Thursday 18th May 2023. We have a great lineup of guests speakers and activities arranged to support well-being these include:

At least 1 in 6 workers experience mental health problems like anxiety and depression. It is imperative for us at LLC to promote well-being in the workplace as this will create a safe space for our employees to share their problems and can also help our employees to successfully overcome difficulties, prevent stress and help them to achieve what they want out their life. Work should not feel heavy and stressful we need to strive to do better to ensure that we are creating a positive work environment.

Our Mental Health Well-being Day is for both employees and learners, to book a well-being activity that is of interest to you, click here
