    Research has shown a sharp rise over the past 20 years in the rise of anxiety, depression, and stress in adolescents and young adults. It is unsurprising that along with this increase in mental health issues,  there is also a demand for counselling by 22% and a 65% increase in the demand for private counselling services since 2016. The NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling bridges this need by equipping individuals with foundational skills to support mental health care. Through practical knowledge and core counselling techniques, this qualification prepares future counsellors to meet the rising demand for mental health support among people.

    Ideal for students who are looking to develop their counselling skills to benefit their work, this course will allow you to gain an understanding of the fundamental theories and frameworks in counselling.

    Studying this diploma in counselling skills provides you with an opportunity to learn how to apply core theories, study ethical frameworks, understand how to develop counselling relationships and find out more about diversity and discrimination.

    After completing this nationally-recognised qualification, you will be able to take your studies to a higher level, use the skills you have gained to complement your current role, or progress to a role in which counselling skills are required.

     

    This qualification does not qualify you to practice as a counsellor. However, it can support your progression within employment in a number of roles including:

    • Support worker (supported living)
    • Healthcare support service worker
    • Clinical healthcare support worker
    • Mental health support worker
    • Information, advice and guidance worker
    • Health education/health promotion worker

    This course is approved by the ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists), at the end of this course students will be able to join and become a member of the ACCPH. The ACCPH is an independent self-regulated professional body for counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists.

  • Who is this course for?

    Learners interested in using counselling skills as part of their functional role in a wide range of sector areas, or looking to progress towards accredited counsellor status with one of the counselling professional accrediting bodies. This qualification does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor.
