This course is delivered online through live webinars, self-study and 1-1 sessions your assessor. You will also communicate through Teams, emails and phone to keep you on track to achieve your qualification.

Course Length

How long it takes you to complete your Access course really depends upon how much time you are able to dedicate to your studies. The programmes are designed to give you the flexibility to study at times that are suitable for you, and to fit your studies around your other commitments. The minimum time you can complete your Access course is six months. The majority of learners complete within 10-12 months

    If you’d love to work in the healthcare sector, and really make a difference to people’s lives, the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health Professionals) is a level 3 qualification designed to prepare you to study for a range of healthcare-related degrees.

    If you don’t have the grades you need to apply for university, an Access to HE Diploma will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need.

    This course is specifically designed to put you on the pathway to study a degree within a health discipline. You’ll learn core knowledge that will prepare you for your degree including the roles and responsibilities of a health care professional and the history of the National Health Service (NHS).

    After completion of this course, you could progress on to University to study a range of degrees such as:

    • Nursing
    • Midwifery
    • Pharmacy
    • Paramedic Science
    • Physiotherapy and much more.

    This becomes possible by learning about human health in topics that explore cell biology, nutrition, and illness. You will also delve into how human health can be adversely affected by:

    • Poverty
    • Drugs
    • Mental health disorders and other issues.

    As part of the programme, you will receive guidance on completing a successful UCAS application and developing academic study skills alongside your specialist subjects to ensure that you are fully prepared to get a great degree.

    This is an intensive course with an extensive workload and therefore will require commitment and time for research and completing the assignments. There will also be 1:1 teacher support available to help you complete your course successfully

  • Entry Requirements
    • Although the Access to Higher Education courses are most suitable for ages 19+, they may also be available for 16-18 learners who wish to self fund.
    • You will need a Level 2 Maths and English qualification (GCSE or equivalent) - copies of your certificates will be requested as part of the enrolment process
    • Full use of a laptop
    • Access to the internet

    As part of our enrolment process, you will need to complete a telephone interview and a written assessments which will ensure that the course is the right level for you.

    To be eligible for funding via Student Finance England, you must be a resident of England for 3+ years, for purposes other than study.

    Meeting entry requirements for university:

    Most students choose to complete an Access to Higher Education Diploma as part of a longer-term aim of progressing to university.

    Whilst your tutors are there to support and guide individual applications, it is your responsibility to research the specific entry requirements for your chosen course at the university that you wish to progress onto.

    Please note students are strongly advised to contact universities prior to commencing this Access to HE Diploma to check the university’s specific entry criteria. The award of a Diploma does not provide guaranteed entry to UK higher education programmes.

  • Assessment Methods

    Assessment requirements - A range of assessment methodologies are used, including: academic report, essay, case study analysis, illustrated mind map, illustrated report, worksheet, journal article, portfolio, academic poster, presentation (video and audio recording), revision guide, series of questions, academic writing skills tasks

    To achieve the Access to HE Diploma (Health Professionals) learners must achieve:

    • 45 credits which must be graded, academic subject content at Level 3 only, 
    • 15 credits which must be either at Level 2 or Level 3 ungraded.
