Tetiana struggled with multiple things since moving from Ukraine to London a few months ago. Struggling from social isolation and not having the relevant qualifications to start a new life here, Tetiana decided to enrol on a course at LLC. Tetiana’s determination was visible from the very start of her enrolment in the course. Being faced with not only adjusting to a new language but also different accents, Tetiana approached each lesson with an open mind ready to soak up as much knowledge despite these barriers. Though she found it sometimes challenging to express her thoughts. She was patient and always kept trying to get her point across. Here at LLC, we have small classes so that it is easier for learners to get access to the support that they need.
As a way to make sure that Tetiana was able to follow along and get the best out of her course with us, the dedicated tutor made sure to incorporate various methods of teaching including, class discussions, workbooks, videos and much more.
Through the struggle and the hardships, Tetiana has proudly passed her qualification in English Functional Skills Level 2. Tetiana now aims to complete an Apprenticeship or find employment.
In addition, she has also managed to acquire and keep some of the friendships she developed in the class. She has noted that prior to the start of the course, she did not feel part of her local community here in the UK. As a result of the course, she now feels a sense of inclusion and safety from being part of the group. She has noted that the setting has been integral to her feeling an increase in confidence that has further propelled her success.
