VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy

This course is for anyone who wishes to develop an in-depth knowledge of a range of massage therapy treatments, particularly in order to progress into related employment in beauty, spa or sports therapy settings. Anyone who currently works in the beauty, spa or sports therapy sectors would also benefit from the course, as well as anyone with a personal need for or interest in developing a more detailed understanding of Massage Therapy

• This qualification is suitable for learners aged 19 or above
• There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification, however it as it is a Level 3 Diploma learners will be expected to have basic literacy skills to at least level 1.
• Learners will require good manual dexterity skills and should be physically able to provide the body massage treatment in order to be able to complete this course.

You will be assessed by demonstrating you have knowledge and understanding of the units of the course. This will be completed by completing assignments, online multiple choice exams and practical assessments.

Mandatory units which will be covered are;

• Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon

• Client care and communication in beauty-related industries

• Maintaining personal health and wellbeing

• Provide body massage

• Explore the origins of massage and principles of complementary and alternative medicine

• Apply stone therapy massage

• Provide Indian head massage

• Provide massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils

There are no optional units for this Diploma.

You will need to compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate you have covered all practical and theory requirements for the course.

Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy VTCT

When you have successfully completed this qualification you will have the opportunity to progress to the following VTCT Skills qualifications:

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy Massage

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Spa Therapy

Progression opportunities also exist in the form of specialist VTCT Skills vocationally related qualifications:

• Level 3 Award in Spa Treatments

• Level 3 Certificate in Face and Body Art

• Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments

• Level 3 Diploma in Make-up Artistry

This qualification may lead directly into employment in the therapy industry as a massage therapist in a salon or self-employment as a massage therapist.
