GDPR FAQ’s for you

What is GDPR?

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new EU regulation that will come into force on 25 May 2018. It will strengthen the current rules under the Data Protection Act (1998) by introducing new obligations for organisations and rights for individuals.

What personal details do we hold for you?

Whilst this varies for different organisations, for LLC it typically means your personal details relating to when you signed up for an LLC course yourself, gave permission to enrol one of your employees on a course or have provided business information about your organisation as a partner provider to LLC e.g. email addresses and telephone number. For some people who have applied to work at LLC, this will also mean your postal address and CV. If you’re not sure what we hold but would like to know, please call us on 020 8774 4040.

How do we have these?

Typically, you’ve applied for a course, a job or to be a partner in the past (in some cases many years ago!), so we will have a mixture of paper or digital information.

What do we do with these details?

Your details are used to contact you, whether this is for an update, marketing, a catch-up call or to discuss a course, programme or job.

What happens if I say yes, will you bombard me?

No. Not at all. We will only contact you in relation to LLC training and education programmes and if you are a learner, employer/employee or partner in the context of that relationship.

Can I say yes but unsubscribe?

Yes, this means that we have your permission to hold your details but we won’t contact you. We will just keep them for historical purposes so that if you get in touch and begin a new job/course/partnership search, we remember who you are and have access to previous conversations. Please let us know if you’d like to do this.

What happens if I say no?

LLC is legally required to retain some documents that provide information and evidence relating to the UK Government and European Union Course/Programme Funding for specified periods of time. If your information falls outside of these legal requirements then LLC will delete you, simple as that. However, we ask you to consider this decision carefully because it means we can’t hold any history. We can’t contact you when we offer new or updated courses and programmes. Therefore if you say no we won’t have any history or way of remembering who you are. All details and prior correspondence will be erased.
