ESF Academies Career Pathway Programme: Health and Social Care Sector

London Learning Consortium (LLC) is working in partnership with Southwest London (SWL) NHS as part of our Mayors ESF Academies Programme for the Health and Social Care Sector, which is available to customers who are aged 16+,  unemployed or economically inactive, and live in the following South London boroughs:

  • Croydon
  • Kingston
  • Merton
  • Richmond
  • Sutton
  • Wandsworth

The SWL NHS have a wide range of both clinical and non-clinical roles available at present and LLC is supporting them to fill those roles through the providing employment-related services funded under the Mayors ESF Academies Programme for the Health and Social Care Sector.

Participants that enrol under this programme are funded through the GLA and European Union through a European Social Fund grant.

Starting a new career is an exciting and challenging undertaking. We have summarised some of the main aspects of the programme available to you as part of this programme below:

1. Career Pathway Coach

You will be allocated a Career Pathway Coach who will support and guide you for the duration of your Career Pathway Programme. Your Career Pathway Coach will meet with you and start to plan your Next Steps on your programme, aligned to your Bespoke Training Plan.

2. Career Pathway Information, Advice and Guidance

LLCs Career Pathway Information Advice and Guidance session is to help you make an informed choice as to which career pathway is right for you.

3. Career Pathway Initial Assessments

You are required to complete initial assessments prior to being accepted on your Career Pathway.  These are online assessments in maths and English that will determine the level you are working at and make sure you are on the right level course to meet your needs. You will also be required to provide evidence of any previous academic achievements (qualification certificates) that help determine what skills you may need to meet your Career Pathway e.g. Functional Skills English/Maths, ESOL, Digital Skills, Employability Skills or Sector Related Qualifications/Accreditations. Additionally, You need to provide evidence of your right to reside in the UK (i.e. birth certificate, passport etc.).

4. Career Pathway Programme

During the Career Pathway Programme, you will be supported to build a full range of skills required to gain employment/progression to further learning in your chosen sector – ensuring you become Career Confident.

5. Employment-Related Activities

As part of your Career Pathway Programme, you will have access to a range of Employment-Related Activities to support you to become Career Confident.  These will include:

  • Work placement.
  • Workplace visits.
  • Industry speakers.
  • Mock interviews with industry professionals.
  • Engagement with sector representative bodies.
  • Support to develop your engagement with sector networks.
  • Employer feedback.
  • Sector specialist mentors.
  • Sector volunteering opportunities.

6. Progression Support

Throughout your Career Pathway Programme, your Career Pathway Coach will be supporting you to prepare for your progression to employment or further learning. In addition, our Career Pathway Coaches will support you to engage fully with our Digital Employability Platform ‘LLC Career Centre’ to help you;

  • Access aggregated job opportunities – vacancies aggregated, deduplicated and matched, from the majority of UK job boards.
  • Utilise our full assessment suite to support your Career Pathway.
  • Create your CV on our powerful CV builder which matches your skills to local available opportunities.
  • Track your Career Pathway Activity and manage your tasks effectively to stay on top of your Career Pathway Journey.
  • Access award-winning eLearning – to further support and challenge your job search journey.

7. Career Confident Support

Once you have successfully built all the skills and experience necessary to prepare you for progression, you are then Career Confident, and your Career Pathway Coach will work with you to access live vacancies/courses and coach you through to employment/further learning.

8. Post Progression Support

LLCs support does not stop once you have started your employment/further learning journey.  We also have a wide range of funded and full-cost programmes to support you to progress in your career. From short CPD courses to full apprenticeships, from entry-level to level 7, LLC can support you all the way to the top.
