My Future is a course for young people aged 16-19 not in employment, education or training, that want to build confidence, develop new skills and meet new people.
This course is designed to help you explore a range of job roles and industries that you could pursue in the future, from customer service and retail to setting up your own business and learning about digital marketing. Our aim is to help give you the skills and confidence to work towards a career in an area that interests and excites you!
You will get to work in groups to deliver various projects, as well as run your own enterprise project, and improve your English and Maths skills through practical activities.
You will receive an accredited qualification upon completion of the course and will receive 1-2-1 mentoring to help you achieve your end goal. Whether that’s to progress into further education on a Level 2 course, find an apprenticeship or traineeship, or move into employment.
What will I get out of the My Future course?

- Have 1–2–1 mentoring to help you with any challenges you face with our expert tutors.
- Support into further education or employment – the choice is up to you!
- Improve your English and Maths skills and work towards Functional Skills qualifications.
The course will be taught predominantly online. However, a small number of “in-person” sessions may be required throughout the course to support the student group and overall learning programme. On these occasions, we will support learners with travel costs and if you are not able to attend these sessions due to concerns around the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, we will ensure that you can still participate remotely.
With this in mind, we advise all applicants applying for the course to live within travel distance of LLC Croydon.
A positive working attitude and a commitment to attend and complete the programme. You must be 16-19 years old and be eligible to reside and learn in the UK. You must not have already completed a similar qualification at Level 1 or 2, and must not be studying at another school or college.
Highfields Level 1 Certificate in Professional Development for Employability, alongside English and/or Maths Functional Skills qualifications.
Who is this course for?
This programme is a new course designed for young people who are not currently in education or employment, that would like to study on a course until summer 2021 and build confidence, employability skills, and begin thinking about what their future career may look like.
By the end of the course, students should feel prepared and confident to progress into further training, employment /self-employment or an apprenticeship/traineeship.
