NCFE Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Health & Social Care

NCFE Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Health & Social Care

The Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Health & Social Care is a vocational qualification providing a basic awareness for learners who want to work in this sector.

It is ideal for school leavers who are eligible for employment and pre-apprenticeship programmes, adult returners or those undergoing a career change and who may want to understand more about working in health and social care.

It aims to introduce you to some basic concepts of caring for adults which are essential within this sector, including the knowledge around the following areas:

  • The adult social care sector
  • Values and principles
  • Skills and attitudes
  • Communication
  • Role of the adult social care worker
  • First aid
  • Manual handling

Learners will have the opportunity to gain an understanding in the above areas which will be recalled by way of discussions, Q&A, quizzes and worksheets.

On completion, you could progress on to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or the Adult care worker standards/apprenticeship. The award is designed to act as a stepping stone towards the Care Certificate, so employers should find that recruits who’ve achieved the Level 1 Award are better prepared at the start of their induction and so able to complete their induction faster, and with less resource-intensive support.
