Learning Support Practitioner

Learning Support Practitioner

This qualification allows practitioners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment in the learning support sector.

This award is particularly suitable for learners who have the role of supporting learners with additional needs.

If you have completed the Progression Certificate, within the Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification, this is a natural progression.

The course is primarily classroom-based, however, it is advisable to be in placement, allowing you to put into practice new skills.

Teaching will be done in groups of 10-15 learners with your tutor.

You will be expected to undertake independent study, having access to a computer is preferable.

We have adapted our classroom courses to online learning to support you through these difficult times. You can still expect the same high standards of support from our tutors who will continue to deliver classroom-based courses in the format of Zoom seminars and Teams online classes. You can also expect regular one to one support via e-mail and phone calls.
You will need internet access and a working tablet, laptop or PC.

This course is assessed by learners completing written assignments, a portfolio of evidence which consists of class exercises, case studies, homework tasks, such as reflective journal entries, and short reports. Students will also begin to develop display and research skills. The assessment will be internally moderated. You will receive a Certificate from City&Guilds.

Who is this course for?

Individuals who want to support learners achieve academically and emotionally within a school or college setting.
