Learning Support Practitioner

Level 2 Award – Learning Support Practitioner

This qualification allows practitioners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment in the learning support sector.

This award is particularly suitable for learners who have the role of supporting learners with additional needs.

If you have completed the Progression Certificate, within the Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification, this is a natural progression.

The course is primarily classroom based, however it is advisable to be in a placement, allowing you to put into practice new skills.

Teaching will be done in groups of 10-15 learners with your tutor.
You will be expected to undertake independent study, having access to a computer is preferable.

    Understanding learning support within lifelong learning Contexts
    Understanding the values and principles which underpin learning support
    Understanding how to support learning
    Being able to evaluate and improve learning support practice

ASSESSMENT METHOD

This course is assessed by learners completing written assignments, a portfolio of evidence which consists of class exercises, case studies, homework tasks, such as reflective journal entries, and short reports.
Students will also begin to develop display and research skills.
The assessment will be internally moderated.
