This course is delivered flexibly online and through monthly 121 sessions with your assessor, arranged at a time and date to suit you. You will also communicate through Teams, emails and phone appointments in between your monthly sessions to keep you on track to achieve your qualification.

Course Overview
The Access to HE Diploma (Nursing) is designed for adults who want to enter Higher Education but may not have the required qualifications such as A-Levels. On our Access to Nursing pathway, you will benefit from studying a range of subjects which will prepare you to progress on to a broad selection of Nursing related degree programmes at the University. This Access to HE Diploma (Nursing) will increase your understanding of Biological Science, Psychology and Sociology.
The programme is also designed to support develop your academic abilities, and develop your confidence to research independently and write assignments. Learners that have taken this pathway in the past have progressed to study degrees in subjects such as General Nursing, Paramedic, Operating Department Practitioner, Mental Health Nurse, and Midwifery.
As part of the programme, you will receive specialist guidance on completing a successful UCAS application and developing academic study skills alongside your specialist subjects to ensure that you are fully prepared to get a great degree.
This is an intensive course with an extensive workload and therefore will require commitment and time outside of the course time for research and completing the assignments. There will also be a high level of 1:1 teacher support available to help you complete your course successfully.

Entry Requirements
- 19 or over
- Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths or GCSE in Maths and English (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above.
- GCSE Biology or Science at grade A*-C/9-4 if you are wanting to study nursing or midwifery is desirable not essential.
- A good command of ICT skills (most assignments will need to be typewritten).

Assessment Methods
Unlike traditional institutions, there are no end-of-year exams. Instead, learning is assessed through coursework and phase tests, which are more reflective of a working environment.
Assessment methods vary and include, assignment, project, written practical reports, oral presentations, and tutorial tasks.
There is no final examination for this qualification, assessments are ongoing throughout the year.
Units are assessed through a variety of methods such as:
- Oral presentations
- Report writing
- Essays
- Short answer questions
Your diploma comprises 60 credits at Level 3, of which 45 credits are graded at either pass, merit or distinction.
Your work will be marked according to how well you achieve these learning outcomes and your final feedback will refer to each outcome, as well as providing an overall percentage grade.

This course is delivered Online.
Online Learning is a way of accessing qualifications and courses, fully supported by a personal tutor but without attending lessons in a classroom setting. This means you can complete your studies in the comfort of your own home, giving you the opportunity to recap on your studies as often as you need to.
Learners work through an online platform to study and complete their course work which is then marked and graded.
You will meet with your pastoral tutor to give you support and complete an individual action plan. Your tutor will give you advice about time management to support you with your career goals.
