Future Jobs Fund

Future Jobs Fund What is it? The Future Jobs Fund is designed to create jobs for young people and individuals in unemployment “hotspots”. The London Learning Consortium is now able to offer funding to our members and our employer network an opportunity to recruit people under this Government funded scheme. The future jobs fund has been set up as a response to the recession and rising levels of unemployment – in particular amongst 18-24 year olds and in “unemployment hotspots”. Its aim is to avoid, or minimise, the impact of long-term unemployment for individuals and for the future of the economy. Consequently it only covers individuals on Job Seekers Allowance and is a Great Britain wide programme.

What is in it for employers?

The fund allows you to recruit a young person for an initial 6 month period for a minimum of 25 hours per week on the minimum wage.

The fund covers this level of wage subsidy and some support funding. This is paid directly to you as an employer via LLC in arrears via a simple claim process.

The job opportunities that you offer are advertised via job centre plus after an individual’s eligibility for the fund has been checked by the job centre, then suitable candidates are referred to you for interview all of which LLC can help with.

The job role has to be a new position and demonstrate a benefit to the local business or third sector communities. The type of role is up to the employer. However LLC is required to visit the employers premises and conduct all necessary health and safety and insurance checks before a young person can commence employment.

What is in it for young people who apply?

The main benefit to young people who join the scheme is that they get an opportunity to get real a work history on their CV.

It also gives them new skills and experiences and the chance to impress an employer who may wish to take them on as a permanent member of staff after the 6 months.

Who is eligible?

Initially, jobs are open to young people aged 18-24 who have been on job seekers allowance for 26 weeks by the time the job starts. If the job remains unfilled after 4 weeks, the job becomes open to those aged 25+ or who live within one of London's unemployment ‘hotspots.’

I am an employer and wish to apply?

There are limited places available on the scheme and we wish to ensure that both the employer and individuals needs are met.

Therefore if you are interested please send us an email to . Once you have expressed an interest we can speak with you to go through the process and fund remuneration in more detail.

We see this fund as a great way to recruit new talent into an organisation and help support some of the large numbers of young unemployed back to work.
